Darryl Flahavan is expected to start training with Leeds this week after being sidelined with a facial injury in February.

Speaking in the YEP boss Grayson said ‘He’ll be with us next week ready to do some work and to join in the competition for places.’

The Crystal Palace keeper who joined Leeds on the final day of the loan transfer window will add a vast amount of experience to the Leeds side.

Flahavan played over 300 games during his time at Southend United between 2001-2008, during his time with the Shrimpers he won the League One title in 2006 and was also named the League One player of the year in the same season.

The 30 year old will struggle to break straight into the first team with the recent improved performances of usual number one Casper Ankergren.

A lot of this may be down to the signing of defender Sam Sodje who also joined on the final day of the loan transfer window from Reading and is becoming an instant hit with the Leeds faithful with his no nonsense defending.
