Leeds United midfielder Paul Green is hoping he is given the chance against Millwall on Sunday.
Green started only his second game since the opening day of the season, when he started against Watford last weekend. He had to make way on the stroke of half time to make way for Tom Lees after Jason Pearce was sent off.
“I was gutted; I was enjoying it because I felt good. I had enjoyed a couple of reserve team games. I felt sharp on the day but unfortunately, we had to make a change and I had to come off,” Green told Yorkshire Radio
The 29 year old, who signed from Derby County in the summer, started the first two games of the season but he was injured in the opening half hour of the championship game with Wolverhampton Wanderers and he was forced off with a knee injury.
Green was out for two months before making his comeback when he started against Charlton Athletic last month.
He had been an unused substitute since, until starting the game with Watford last weekend and he now feels he is almost back to full fitness and he is hoping to feature in the trip to Millwall. “I was injured at the start of the season, which was gutting because I had done all pre-season and felt good and was sharp. I had been out for nine weeks, it takes its toll, and I now feel I have match sharpness coming back and I could enjoy it if I am given the chance on Sunday,” continued Green.
The versatile player was playing in defence last week until being substituted and with Jason Pearce and Michael Brown suspended and midfield talisman Rodolph Austin out until the New Year, Green is likely to start at the New Den.
