Usual fans view reporter Tiny T finally gives us his first report of the season in the ugly 1-0 win over Sheffield United.

Higgs 6

Decent save from a free kick in the first half and late on after we scored. Easy game dealing with back passes and very little else to do.

Hughes 5
Odd decent tackle but gets caught the wrong side, doesn’t know how to defend and passing appalling. When the Substitutes were being made those round me wanted him off as he’s worse than useless.
(Editors note: Most people sat around me commented on what a good game he had.)

Bruce 7
Solid defensive performance. Gave little away, no way back for Naylor now.

Collins 8 Star man
Won absolutely everything, the star of a well marshalled defence. Solid and gave Cresswell and the other forwards nothing.

McCartney 6
Solid start on his debut, though he looked to tire towards the end. The good thing is he can defend.

Sam 5
Not at the races at times but stuck to the task, known to be carrying an injury and at times it shows.

Howson 6
In and out of the game, some useful tackles but no quality when on the ball.

Johnson 6
Another who toiled in the middle given little time to settle when on the ball. The ground he made up to score was phenomenal.

Gradel 6
Delivery from set pieces not bad but when he plays on the left as today, he needs to whip the ball in. When you’ve beaten your man once there is no need to do it again.

Somma 6
He had little to feed off today and needs time to get a partnership with Becchio going. Good first touch and was involved in the game in first half. He went missing in the second half. Needs to challenge a little more and use his head.

Becchio 5
Another who had little to feed off. Toiled away all game, won most in the air, and useful when defending but needs to stop falling over all the time.

Substitutes

Snodgrass 6

Good run and pass to set up the goal, red card was a joke. First warranted a talking to and perhaps the second was a booking.

McCormack 5
A lot to prove but will take time, needs a goal for his confidence.

Kilkenny 5
Didn’t really change anything when he came on.

Summary
Leeds were the best side in the game without creating too much in either half. The wide men need to beat the man and put it into the area.

Defensively we look the part and will be stronger when Connolly returns to the side as with headless in the side we might as well play with my grandmother who as got more idea.

Up front, we need to create more and get a regular pairing so an understanding comes as Becchio lays the ball off but Somma too far away.
The Blunts were poor, and we couldn’t find away round or through them. We need to be more creative and move the ball more quickly as times it was stale and predictable but three points gained and we moved into the top six.

Finally, the Referee who was one of the worst I have seen, totally lost control of the game and his decisions at times were mystifying. How he’s refereed in the Premiership is a mystery as I’ve seen better on parks pitches.

Thanks for your views Tiny.
