LUFC Fans view v Sheffield United

Erni is in the fans view hot seat this week, this time after the poor performance in the 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United.

Kasper 8

Kept us in the game with a string of good saves and catches but spoilt a lot of it with poor distribution and getting beat from a tight angle for the second.

Lichaj 6
Stuck to his defensive task for 90 minutes but passing and crossing was below par and a poor own goal summed our match up.

Bromby 6
Headed everything away and gave Vokes and Evans little chance but clearances rarely went to any of our players and the ball just kept coming back. He could have scored near the end with a bit of composure.

O`Brien
As with Bromby, constantly hoofing the ball away only to see it come back and put a lot of ball away for throw ins when he could have passed it out. He gave away a series of fouls in dangerous positions.

McCartney 4
Worked non-stop overlapping but he is caught out up field repeatedly and makes little effort to get back. He didn`t put a decent ball in at all in the game and where was he for the second goal?
Subbed immediately after second goal was given away.

Howson 2
It`s got to be one of his poorest games in a Leeds shirt. Never involved in any serious plays, lost the ball repeatedly, and gave the ball away when he did have it. Disappeared isn`t the word.

Bannan 8 Star Man
Never stopped trying to win back ball and the only Leeds player to consistently win second ball and then make anything of it. Good on the ball and made a lot of good passes that were wasted by his colleagues.

Johnson 5
He played them at their own game of head tennis, but without creating anything. Passing was poor and his five was for continuing to try and get stuck in (Which several of his teammates didn`t) even though he was out-thought by Montgommery and Doyle. Finished up at left back and looked better there.

Gradel 3
Another poor display with Max at his frustrating worst. Should have scored with a simple header first half and was constantly robbed by the ponderous Nosworthy, who took the ball off him as if it was a practice match.

Snodgrass 3
Never got going and was lacklustre on and off the ball. Can`t remember him putting in many crosses and most were catching practice for the keeper. Seemed to lose interest when we went 2-0 down and was rightly subbed.

Becchio 2
He contributed nothing. Flicked balls on with nobody behind him, couldn`t hold the ball up and seemed like he had lead in his boots whenever he was asked to run. Another who was rightly subbed.

Subs
Paynter 3

He looked livelier than Becchio without creating much. Idiotic sending off. (He was fouled/rugby tackled in the area but lashed out in full view of the officials)

Watt
Didn`t have enough time to get into the game but looked more composed than most on the ball.

Somma 5
Game was lost when he came on and the defence just blasted highballs at him, which isn`t his game. At least he did control some of them and lay balls off but he didn`t get a decent ball in the 15-20 minutes he was on the pitch.

Summary
Lets not beat about the bush, 2-0 didn`t do the Blades justice.
They bossed the game for 90 minutes and created lots of chances. It was only poor finishing and good keeping by Kasper that kept us in it for so long.

We didn`t want it as much as they did and just didn`t compete.
They won all second ball and rarely looked in trouble at the back.
The midfield capitulated when the going got hot and Max and Snoddy didn`t get going.
Total hoofball and no team play.
The players started to come across to the fans but got short shrift
as the 3400 fans that had paid good money told them what they thought of the display.
Only Kasper was brave enough to come up to the fence to a lot of angry fans.

Thanks Erni for your thoughts
