LUFC Fans view v Queens Park Rangers

I was again in the hot seat for the final fans view of the season at champions Queens Park Rangers.

Schmeichel 7

A mixed afternoon for Kasper, should have done better with the shot for the opening goal and was lucky to get away with another in the second half when he failed to get a proper connection on a punched clearance.
On the other hand, he made three or four great saves to deny Rangers.

Connolly 7
Connolly had his usual steady game at right back and wasn`t troubled much throughout the game.

Naylor 7
He has played really well since returning for the last four games. He produced an excellent ball for Gradel to equalise for Leeds. I wonder if his form recently will have earned him a new contract in the summer?

O`Brien 7
He`s looked a lot more solid in the centre of defence since Naylor`s return.

Lichaj 8
If Grayson is going to go out and buy a few players this summer, I hope this lad is near the top of his list. Another good performance and almost scored in the second half.

Kilkenny 5
This game should have suited Kilkenny, as there was hardly any tackles to be made. Failed to make much impact on the game and his passing was erratic.

Johnson 8
If it was his last appearance in a Leeds shirt, he went out with another good performance. He has looked good again in the past few weeks, maybe hoping to impress clubs watching him.

Howson 7
Not one of his driving the team forward games but he put in a good shift.

Gradel 8 Star Man
He capped a fine season with Leeds equalising goal. Eighteen goals this season from the left wing has been a great return, from a player who had a lot to prove after last season. His never say die attitude and hard work for Leeds should rub off on a few others. Deservedly the player of the season, I hope we can hang onto him in the summer.

Paynter 4
He didn`t put in a challenge in the air all afternoon and just isn`t good enough at this level. Whilst McCormack as stepped up his game in the final two games of the season, Paynter looks like he couldn`t wait for it to be over.
He was a little unlucky in the first half when it looked like he was fouled on the edge of the area.

McCormack 8
Another good performance from McCormack and I can`t wait to see him next season. Maybe got a little fortunate with his goal but came very close to adding a second soon afterwards with a stinging drive that hit the post.
I hope that he can get a full pre season under his belt and a Becchio/McCormack partnership next season looks dangerous.

Somma 6

He made much more impact than Paynter. Had a few efforts on goal but failed to trouble the Rangers keeper.

Kisnorbo 5
He gets a five just because he made it onto the pitch. He looked rustier than a bag of nails left out in the rain all winter. I cannot help but wonder where we would have finished this season with a fully fit Paddy in defence.
Let us hope he can comeback in preseason and prove he is worth a new contract.

Watt
Not on long enough to score

Summary
A great way for Leeds to finish the season by completing the double over the champions of the division.
Who would have thought a month ago that a win at Rangers would not have meant anything to us?

Unfortunately, our away form especially since Christmas just hasn`t been good enough and on a number of occasions, we just haven`t turned up.

I think this result says it all in that the two sides who have gained automatic promotion this season have not beaten us.
We have to make sure the players turn up for every game next season and not just the ones against the top teams in the division.

All in all I have enjoyed a fantastic season and one that we could and should have still been involved in, or even been celebrating like our opposition were on Saturday.

Grayson needs to clear out a few in the summer and let us see him bring in quality instead of quantity this time.

Roll on next season.
