LUFC Fans view v Preston

Tiny T is back in the hot seat for the Preston game when the Leeds defence didn`t turn up.

Higgs 3
At fault for at least four of the goals, a keeper shouldn’t be beaten at his near post and ours was twice. He does not organise his back four, hurry back Kasper.

Hughes 3
A very generous 3. At fault for the first, defenders do not keep backing off, unfortunately this one does and all night long he did. His distribution was like the rest of his game. Grayson must realise that a square peg doesn’t fit the round hole and this one should have finally played his last game for the Club.

Bruce 5
He scored his first goal for the Club to put Leeds ahead. He struggled as did Collins with the awkward Parkin but also had to cover for Hughes.

Collins 4
Should know Parkin from his days at Preston, but just didn’t defend allowing Parkin to do as he wanted.

McCartney 5
Until giving away the stonewall penalty had a reasonable game, no protection from Gradel but stuck to his task.

Sam 3
An assist but went missing for long periods, justifiably Subbed. Doesn’t seem to be the player that started the season like a train.

Howson 5 Star man
Stunning ball for one of Somma`s goals and got stuck in but got little help from those around him. Surprisingly, he was taken off.

Johnson 4
Again struggled like those around him. Needs to lift his game as he may be a casualty after this defeat.

Gradel 3
Crossing and set pieces woeful with most being over cooked. Lacked any spark and seemed to be daydreaming at times with his reactions to balls close to him. Again wants to beat the man more than once before delivering.

Somma 5
When supplied he delivered twice but needs to get the work rate going, won’t challenge much in the air and after the 20 minutes when we were on top he went missing, though to be fair little supply in the second half.

Becchio 5
Worked hard up front and got the equaliser, little support from the wide men.

Substitutes
Kilkenny 4

Cannot change a game and didn’t.

Clayton
Little chance to do anything in the short time on the pitch

Watt
Same as Clayton

Grayson 5
Not a score I normally do but Grayson was naïve. Most around me in the Kop would have brought on Faye to prop up the middle rather than bringing Kilkenny on.
He could have brought Faye on even sooner and taking either Gradel or Sam off as neither did much in attack or supporting the defence.

Summary

Woeful defending and Keeping tonight but please do not bring the Carthorse back on Saturday.
I had at least half a dozen volunteers to play instead of Hughes in defence before the game, and after a few more, he is now a joke, time to go.

For three seasons I’ve asked for width, we get players who can play there and they go missing in action, both could be casualties this weekend after poor displays.
Upfront when given the correct delivery the strikers got results.

To score four at home is great, to concede six is appalling. Along with the Barnsley result, its time for Grayson to sort out his defence. He was quick enough to get a left back when Bessone got injured but seems to have wasted an opportunity to get a right back when Connolly became injured.

Let us hope that is the end of the horrors for the rest of the season, fingers crossed.

Thanks as usual Tiny for your thoughts on the game.
