LUFC Fans view v Portsmouth

Tiny T gives us his usual fans view from the game at Elland Road, this time after the frustrating draw with Portsmouth.

Schmeichel 7
Some good stops but what a mess for the equaliser, his kicking distribution at times poor.

Connolly 7
Got forward well and held his own in defence.

Collins 5
Poor performance, occasional good tackle, distribution is Row Z most of the time but his concentration levels when we go in front are not 100%.

O’Brien 5
Like his central defensive partner not at the races when it mattered, and an own goal, disappointing.

McCartney 7
A good shift at left back, solid and reliable.

Snodgrass 7
Good first half and glimpses in the second, an assist for the second goal. They had to put two on him to stop him playing and sometimes that didn’t work.

Howson 7
Well taken goal, dropped deeper in the second half as we needed bodies in the middle.

Johnson 8 Star man
Defended well, broke up play, scored, what more could we ask. Distribution let him down at times. New contract ???

McCormack 7
Glimpses at times with great vision to switch play, should have had a penalty at 3-2 when up ended in the area.

Gradel 6
Though he scored I thought he flattered at times, needs to use those around him more.

Paynter 7
Another who had a better first half than second half, the hour he got will stand him in good stead with match fitness, a goal will improve his confidence.

Substitutes

Becchio 6

Nearly scored with his first touch, and had a last minute penalty denied.

Sam 5
Needs more game time.

Summary
A game we should have won with ease, poor concentration for the goals and an inability to defend is a problem Grayson will have to solve.

Time for the central defenders to stand up and be counted or open the door and taxi time, we give away too many easy goals without scoring for the opposition as well.

Going forward we were inventive, but wasted quite a bit by poor delivery or one player trying to do everything with others in a better position.

The Referee/Linesmen were a disgrace, none could make a decision if there life depended on it, games at Elland Road are big for both sides and they deserve first class officials, unfortunately this rarely happens and the three today were appalling

Plus side 11 games unbeaten now onto number 12.

Cheers Tiny as ever for your thoughts.
