LUFC Fans View v Portsmouth

Tiny T gives us his regular fans view, this time after the 1-0 defeat of Portsmouth at Elland Road and the rarity of a clean sheet.

Lonergan 7

A really good save in the first half, and another in the second, otherwise relatively quiet afternoon. The one part of his game that needs improvement is his kicking.

Connolly 7
Reliable in defence and got forward well, odd couple of misjudgements but a solid game

Lees 8
Could we have found the answer to our centre half problem? He kept Benjani quiet and a good game, read the game as well

O’Dea 7
Odd mistake but another in the defence who looked good today.

White 8 Star man
Looking good, got forward and defended equally as well, is making the left back spot his own.

Snodgrass 7
Good for the first half, tired a little in the second and he picked up a knock, getting back to the Snoddy we need. His fitness level is a worry though.

Howson 7
Much better game from Jonny, linked well with Clayton especially in the first half.

Clayton 7
Like Howson looked better in the first half, crunching tackles put us on the front foot from the start.

Pugh 7
A great header for the goal and he supported White well in defence, getting his match fitness back.

Keogh 6
Worked tirelessly up front, but for me he doesn’t get into the box enough.

McCormack 6
Another hard working performance but little chance in front of goal.

Substitutes

Becchio- 5

He is better starting than coming off the bench, good layoff for Forssell strike.

Forssell 5
A Good strike from Becchio layoff

Vayrynen 5
Little chance to shine

Summary
A good and well deserved win, clean sheet will work wonders for the defence’s confidence.
Tom Lees played confidently and gave Benjani hardly a sniff. Aidy White seems to get better with every game.
Howson and Clayton had good games and protected the defence when needed. Snoddy had a good first half but his fitness levels are a little worrying.

Up front, the two worked hard but nothing came off for either of them. I would like to see Keogh in the box more rather than out wide. Once he Is given the ball he needs to get into the box as we lacked numbers in there at times, with both wide men having to check back.

We have now taken 10 from 12 points and are moving up the table. Next up is a rejuvenated Doncaster who have taken 7 from 9 under Dean Saunders. It will be an interesting Friday night Derby game.

Thanks for your thoughts Tiny.
