Tiny T gives us his usual fans view, this time from the game with Millwall.
Leeds won 2-0 on a highly emotional day at Elland Road.
A couple of decent saves, but rarely troubled for long periods. His kicking game niggles me.
Decent in defence and got forward but his passing was either a little heavy or not enough.
Solid if unspectacular, gave little away and with Paddy they gave little away
With Lees, gave Henderson little to work off, solid defending.
He was solid at left back and for the first 15 minutes at left midfield. He got past the fullback, just needs to deliver a better final ball.
Snodgrass 9 Star Man
Scored the goals that secured the points, but it was his all round game that caught the eye. Worked tirelessly all over the park. This is the Snoddy we need every week.
Until his untimely exit, he was lively.
Weak first half but as the second half wore on, his game improved.
Slow start then was injured
Played in three different positions and decent in all of them.
A good first 70 minutes but was tiring towards the end. He took a lot of punishment from a rugged Millwall defence. Good to see him get 90 minutes though.
Anonymous on the Left but when he was switched to the right he got better. He had a decent 15 minutes, which helped to get us in front.
Battled hard but needs to become more selfish in front of goal.
A lively first 15 minutes but the injuries to Howson and Brown in quick succession meant we had to re jig midfield and the team struggled for a while to get going again.
Perhaps McCarthy had the more to do but neither Keeper was rarely troubled.
A couple of tweaks at half time saw Sam and Snoddy swap sides and Sam was immediately more involved and a much happier bunny playing down the right, his natural side of the park.
A stunning free kick by Snoddy saw us take the lead and when he followed this up with a headed goal, which must be his first by my recollection, we were rarely troubled. Becchio should have set Snoddy up for his hat trick later but as Grayson put it, greedy striker.
Defensively sound, though Henderson did give Lees and Kisnorbo problems who both dealt with him well.
Up front, 90 minutes for Becchio was a plus but he was tiring at the end though Keogh needs to be a little more selfish when in on goal, he’s a striker who doesn’t score enough for me.
Let`s hope Howson`s injury is not serious as in his old role off the striker he looks good.
Looking forward, 2 clean sheets, 6 goals and 6 points let`s take the impetus forward to the Watford game next week.
Gary Speed – I have been very lucky that I have seen two of the best midfields in Leeds history, both were outstanding and the two players who wore the 11 shirt were fanastic players, Eddie Gray and Gary Speed. I had not realised it was Eddie who gave Gary his first Leeds contract until this week, how times move on.
If asked today who was the best I would find it difficult to separate them and which to leave out of my all-time 11.
The tribute today by the club before the game and by fans was exemplary, dignified, and epitomised Speedo’s attitude to the game.
I like all football fans around the country wish his family my best wishes and condolences at this time and in the future.
Rest in Peace Gary Speed a true legend of the game.
Thanks for your thoughts Tiny
