LUFC Fans view – Bristol Rovers

Tiny T our usual fans view contributor asked me to do a fans view at last nights Bristol Rovers game, so here we go.

Casper Ankergren 4

Had very little to do, but what he had to do he generally did badly. Was lucky to get away with his fluffed effort at Campbell`s long range shot which went on to hit the bar.
Needs to dominate his area, the defenders don`t have confidence in him coming for the ball.
To be honest, the fans aren`t helping his cause by constantly shouting at him and then ironically cheering him when he makes a catch.

This is our keeper we are barracking!!!

Leigh Bromby 7

Had a steady game, didn`t have a lot to do, but cleared well when he needed to.
Joined up with Snodgrass a few times down the right, to launch attacks.

Richard Naylor 8

Best game since returning from injury this season. Always seemed to be a yard ahead of the attackers and continuously broke up any Bristol attacks with timely interventions.

Patrick Kisnorbo 7

As usual, he was his solid as a rock self at the heart of the defence. Naylor seemed to do most of the clearing up at the back but Kisnorbo didn`t miss a thing all evening either.

Andy Hughes 7

Solid performance from Hughes at left back. Wasn`t under a great deal of pressure but was another who did what he had to do.

Mike Doyle 7

Good to see him and Howson run the midfield, was involved heavily first half and seemed to allow Howson to do most of the tackling second half after picking up a booking first half.

Jon Howson 8

Probably feeling under pressure after a few below par performances in midfield recently. Ran the show last night, broke up the attacks and joined in with the attacking play.
A couple of fantastic balls to Beckford in the second half that split the Bristol defence.

Robert Snodgrass 7

Distribution in the first half was poor but in the second half he was probably the biggest thorn in the Bristol side. Ran the Bristol left back ragged at times and linked up excellently with Beckford for Vokes goal.

Bradley Johnson 7

The biggest thing for Johnson now his is consistency looks full of confidence and continues to impress game after game. Could have quite easily of scored a hat trick with a bit more luck in front of goal.

Sam Vokes 7

He is getting better with first team football under his belt, linked up well with the midfield and Beckford. Great to see him get his first goal.

Jermaine Beckford 8 Star man

Back to his best last night, ran the channels well all night and linked up well with the midfield. Two great goals, especially the second when he made the defender look silly.

Substitutes

Neil Kilkenny 6

Did ok when he came on, didn`t need to do much with Howson everywhere.

Max Gradel 7

Came on and played up front, quickly got involved and linked up well with Kandol. Supplied the ball for Kandol`s goal.

Tresor Kandol 7

Kandol is taking his chance whenever they come along this season. Got involved quickly after coming on and capped a great evening for Leeds with the fourth goal.

Manager – Simon Grayson 8

Stuck by the side that was so disappointing on Saturday and they responded with this performance.

Overall

Probably the best performance of the season by the side, controlled the game from start to finish and Bristol rarely got close to the Leeds goal.
When the midfield do their job they are unstoppable, if they give Beckford the supply he needs he will score goals.

The scoreline could have been doubled.

Hope that met with your approval Tiny?
