Leeds promising young midfielder Fabien Delph has committed himself to the club by signing a new four year deal.

The 17 year old who has come through the Leeds United academy has forced his way into the first team this season and produced some excellent performances in the middle of the park.

Speaking on the official website Boss Gary McAllister said “There has been a lot of high profile interest in Fabien which has been kept quiet”

Delph only signed his first professional contract in January this year but a mixture of his impressive performances and other clubs sniffing around have earned him the new contract.

The midfielder made his debut for the club when coming on as a substitute in the last game of the 2006/07 season at Derby County when only 16 years and 1 day old.

Last season he was limited to only two appearances when coming of the bench for the games at Portsmouth in the Carling Cup and the last game of the season against Gillingham.
This season however he`s already started 3 games and been a used substitute in another two.

McAllister was also quick to set the challenge to the other academy players when saying “This also sends out a message to the other players in the academy, that if you are good enough you will progress to the first team”

Fabien has already become a firm favourite with the fans with his hard working performances and composure on the ball.
