Malcolm Christie has been cleared by the Football League to play for Leeds United in the League starting with Saturday`s game with Hartlepool United.

Christie had signed a contract with Leeds in October which made him eligible to play in the Totesport.com League, and signing that contract made him eligible for the FA Cup.

The former Derby and Middlesbrough striker was a surprise inclusion in Leeds 5-2 win at Northampton in the Cup on Monday, Christie who has been out of football for over a year with injury made a good impression on his debut.

Christie is currently at Leeds on a non contract basis although Leeds are likely to offer him a contract if he can impress the club.

Leeds received the news today from our friends at the Football League to say he`s eligible for League games.
