Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has praised midfielder Liam Bridcutt after he left the club to join Nottingham Forest.

Bridcutt decided to join Nottingham Forest on a three-year deal after slipping down the pecking order at Elland Road since the arrival of Christiansen this summer.

Christiansen was keen for Bridcutt to stay and fight for his place in the side this season but he understands why the Scottish international has decided to move away from Elland Road and Christiansen praised his attitude and commitment to training during their time together at the club.

“He is a player that I like, especially for his attitude,” Christiansen told the Leeds official website.

“He goes hard in training and has always given 100% but we have a lot of players here who play in his position and this is why we have all made this decision. I can understand him wanting to go and play games and I wish him all the best for the future.”

Bridcutt made 53 appearances during two separate spells at Elland Road and he captained the side last season.
