Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen says Liam Bridcutt is part of his plans despite interest from Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder, who joined Leeds from Sunderland last summer, has made just one substitute appearance in the League Cup win against Port Vale so far this season and he failed to make the 18-man squad for the clashes with Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End.

Despite his lack of involvement, Christiansen has been impressed by the Scotland internationals attitude and commitment.

“I have been speaking to him and I believe in him,” Christiansen told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I am very pleased by the work, how he acts on the pitch and he is a captain for me in the team, even if he is not in the squad.

“But his attitude is the right one, the preferred one so I will not complain about anything.

“It`s just that I have to take these decisions. He is out (of the team) right now but this can change. “If we have injuries, if we have suspensions then we need to put some other players in.”

Bridcutt joined Leeds last summer on a two-year deal after impressing during a loan spell the previous season when he made 27 appearances.

The 28-year-old played a key part for Leeds in their push for a play-off place last season captaining the side following his arrival, and he made 25 appearances.
