Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen knows it is a big month for the club and he is backing the side to still be in the promotion mix.

Leeds have five games in February, including four games against sides currently in the top seven in the division.

The whites have slipped down the table following a run of just two points from a possible fifteen and Leeds will need a good return of points in February if they are to still be in with a chance of a top six finish this season.

Leeds are now four points off a play-off place and fourth placed Cardiff City are first up for Leeds this afternoon. Tenth placed Leeds know a win would move them to within four points of their opponents and get them back on the coattails of the top six and Christiansen knows it is a difficult month but one he thinks they can see a return to form.

“It`s a big month with difficult games against top six teams,” Christiansen told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“It`s very crucial and at the end of the month we will see where we stand. But I`m convinced that we`re going to make good results and take good points.

“We need to be positive and think that we can do it, and why not? We know what we are able to do and if we have a good day we can beat everyone.”

Leeds follow the clash with Cardiff with a trip to seventh placed Sheffield United next Saturday.

A home clash against fifth placed Bristol City is next up before a trip to second placed Derby County.

Leeds finish the month with a home clash against eleventh placed Brentford.

March will then start with two more games that are difficult. A trip to Middlesbrough, who currently occupy eighth, is first up and then they welcome league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers to Elland Road.
