Leeds United defender Leigh Bromby is hoping that the side can put a run together and finish the season in the play-off places.
Leeds moved to within three points of the play-off places with their win at Millwall on Saturday and Bromby believes the side are capable of putting a run together between now and the end of the season, which will have clubs looking nervously over their shoulders.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bromby said, “This league is very tight and anyone can beat anyone. If we can put a run together between now and the end of the season people will be looking over their shoulders at us and we can be strong contenders for the play offs and to go on and then win them.
“It usually the teams that come strong at the end of the season that go up and hopefully that can be us this season.”
Bromby also feels that there is less pressure on Leeds this season having been in mid-table for most of the season and having been written off on more than one occasion. “I think because people have written us off there is not as much pressure on us as there was last season. “We have seen before, teams can make a late run and hopefully that can be us,” added Bromby.
Last season, Leeds were in the top six for most of the season That was until the final weeks when Nottingham Forest caught them for the final play-off place.
73 points were needed to reach last season`s play-offs, but with teams in the top half of the table struggling in recent weeks, 70 points could well be enough.
Of the sides currently in the play-off places, not one side has managed more than nine points from a possible eighteen in their last six games.
Current form – Last six games
3rd place – West Ham (8 points)
4th place – Brighton (9 points)
5th place – Middlesbrough (8 points)
6th place – Birmingham (6 points)
7th place – Blackpool (5 points)
8th place – Cardiff (7 points)
