Leeds United travel to Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday for their first visit to the seagulls new Amex Stadium.

The two clubs have met on seventeen previous occasions at Brighton with both sides winning seven games each and there have been three draws.

Despite the two clubs long histories it wasn`t until the 1960/61 season that they had their first meeting at the Goldstone Ground.

Brighton ran out 2-1 winners that day in a Second Division encounter.

The following season, Leeds gained revenge with a 3-1 win.

Their last ever encounter at the Goldstone Ground came during Leeds promotion season of 1989/90 when a late equaliser earned Brighton a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

The overall record at the Goldstone Ground saw Brighton win five games, Leeds four and two draws.

It was until the 2004/05 season that the two clubs met again; by which time Brighton had moved to the Withdean Stadium, (I use the word stadium loosely).

Brighton won the first two encounters at the Withdean with both sides in the championship.

The two sides met three times whilst they were in League One with Leeds winning all three without conceding a goal.

The last time they met was during Leeds promotion season of 2009/10 when Leeds ran out 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Robert Snodgrass, Jermaine Beckford and Neil Kilkenny.

Leeds had the slightly better record at the Withdean winning three games to Brighton`s two.
