Leeds United travel to St Andrews on Wednesday night, for a championship clash against Birmingham City at a venue where they have not done very well over the years,

In 44 previous meetings, Birmingham have won 23, drawn 11 and Leeds have won just 8.

Leeds have won on just one of their previous nine visits and they have failed to score in the last two.

The first ever meeting between the two sides was a Second Division clash during the 1920/21 season when Birmingham won 1-0.

Leeds had to wait until their seventh visit before returning to West Yorkshire with a win.

A solitary Billy Furness goal was enough to give Leeds their first win on Christmas Day 1931.

They completed a quick double when they won 3-1 a day later on Boxing Day at Elland Road. Billy Furness was again amongst the goals, netting twice and there was also one for Charlie Keetley.

Leeds suffered their heaviest defeat at Birmingham during the 1956/57 season. Two goals from John Charles were nothing more than a consolation as Birmingham won 6-2.

Leeds biggest margin of victory came during the 1980/81 season when they won 2-0 thanks to goals from Derek Parlane and a Kevin Hird penalty.

The last time Leeds enjoyed a victory at Birmingham was in the first leg of the Coca Cola cup semi final during the 1995/96 season. An own goal and a strike from Tony Yeboah set Leeds on their way to a 2-1 win.
Leeds won the second leg 3-0 at Elland Road to reach the final, but we will not talk about that game.

The last time they met was in the championship during the 2006/07 season when Birmingham won 1-0.
