After winning the league One fans player of the month Jermaine Beckford is now up for the Football League`s player of the month.

He was somehow beaten to the August award by Danny Graham even though he scored two more goals than the Carlisle striker. Hopefully this time the Football League panel will be able to make the right decision.

Beckford scored four goals in the month helping Leeds to six consecutive victories. He`s now got eleven goals for the season by the end of September and looks well on his way to beating the twenty he scored last season.

Beck`s is up against familiar opposition with ex Leeds loan striker Dougie Freedman who is now at Southend also nominated for the award.

Freedman`s scored four goals in four games since joining the Shrimpers.

Also up for the award is Peterborough United striker Craig Mackail-Smith who scored five goals during the month including a hat trick against Tranmere Rovers.

Making up the quartet is Millwall keeper David Forde who kept three clean sheets in four games.
He will be hoping to make it a League One double after Millwall manager Kenny Jackett took the managers award.

Winners will be announced on Big League weekend 2 at approximately 7pm on Monday 6th October on Sky Sports 2.
