Jermaine Beckford says he`s fully committed to getting Leeds promoted back to the Championship after withdrawing his transfer request today.

Beckford handed in a transfer request on the 30th December, but after some serious thinking he`s decided to stay at Elland Road and try to help the club gain promotion back to the Championship after three years in League One.

The 26 year old has been a pivotal part of Leeds bid in the past two seasons in trying to get the club promoted, scoring 20 and then 34 goals, only to see Leeds fall at the final hurdle and suffer the heart break of losing in the Play offs.

Despite him refusing a new contract in the summer and then being placed on the transfer list for a short while, Beckford`s continued to find the net on a regular basis and he`s already managed 20 goals this season including the only goal in the famous 1-0 FA Cup win at Manchester United recently.

Speaking on the official website Beckford said “Every time I put on the Leeds shirt I give 100 per cent and can assure the fans, the manager and everyone connected with the club that I will continue to do that”.

Beckford had actually put his transfer request in before the trip to Old Trafford and he says that his goal and the win, along with a fantastic fans reception at Elland Road against Wycombe Wanderers last Saturday, even though they was aware by then of his transfer request had a lot to do with him changing his mind.

Leeds Chairman Ken Bates and manager Simon Grayson had continuously expressed that they would not allow the striker to leave for anything less than the clubs valuation and have been true to their word.

Newcastle have been one club who have been chasing the striker this transfer window having three bids turned down with the last one rumoured to be around the £1.5 million mark.

Leeds have always said that they would risk losing him for nothing in the summer at the end of his contract if it meant he helped the club to promotion.

The news will come as a blow to non league Wealdstone who stood to earn 20 per cent of any transfer fee as part of the sell on clause when he joined Leeds from Wealdstone in 2006.
