Leeds United have removed Jermaine Beckford from the transfer list.

The 34 goal top scorer from last season was placed on the transfer list at the end of last season after failing to agree terms on a new contract with the club.

Beckford still has one year left on his current contract so could still run down the final year of his contract and leave on a free next summer.

A number of clubs have been reported to have shown an interest in the striker with the club admitting to turning down two offers for him.

Newcastle and Sheffield United have been rumoured to be leading the chase for his signature.

Ken Bates has decided after discussion with Leeds boss Simon Grayson to take Beckford off the transfer list, speaking on Yorkshire Radio Bates said “We`re quite happy to keep him, he`s under contract until the end of the season, and we`re looking forward to him playing his part in getting us promoted this season”.
