There was a starting place for trialist Mathieu Baudry from Troyes.

Leeds fell behind in the first five minutes when Michalik should have cleared, the ball fell to Jean Louis Akpa Akpro who beat Ankergren from close range.

Grimsby enjoyed the better of the game in the first half and according to reports Simon Grayson read the riot act at half time.

Lucciano Becchio scored for Leeds five minutes into the second half after Mike Grella rushed the Grimsby keeper into a mistake.

Trialist Baudry was replaced after 80 minutes bandaged and bloodied after suffering a head wound, received a great ovation from the Leeds faithful after a good performance.
