Leeds United Chairman Ken Bates says the club are still actively looking to bring in loan players despite the clubs lack of activity in the market.

Despite losing only one game since the end of January, Leeds winning form as hit the buffers, with the sides picking up just nine points from their last six games, including just two from their last three.

Boss Simon Grayson indicated last week that the club were hopeful of bringing in at least one player before the Swansea game but failed and Chairman Bates is putting it down to the fact that they are trying to attract Premier League players who are needed by their clubs. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, “We hope to make one or two signings this week or next, but you have to understand we are only interested in signing players from the Premiership because nobody competing with us will let any players out.
“Premier League clubs are suffering injuries and suspensions and we have a situation where three players Simon had in mind, who had provisionally agreed to sign, are now on hold because there present clubs are concerned they may need them themselves.”

Leeds have been linked with three Premier League players this week, midfielders Barry Bannan – Aston Villa, Jordan Mutch – Birmingham City and Michael Johnson – Manchester City have all been linked with a move to Elland Road.

Any player Leeds will now bring in on a long term loan for the remainder of the season will be eligible for the Play offs, including the final if needed if Leeds are to reach Wembley.
