Ken Bates is delighted with the end to the year after another turbulent year at Elland Road.

Chairman Bates was also quick to pray tribute to the impact that new manager Simon Grayson has made since taking over the job last week.

Speaking on the official website Bates said “We`re delighted with the start Simon`s made”

Leeds brought to a halt a run of five successive defeats in Grayson`s first game in charge against top of the table Leicester and followed this up with a 3-1 victory at Stockport two days later.

Continuing to discuss the start Grayson has made Bates said “We came back after going a goal behind at Stockport with a fantastic performance and with a little bit of luck we could have taken all three points against Leicester”.

With the club having now reached the half way stage of the season they currently sit ninth in the table five points from the play offs and thirteen points from automatic promotion. Bates believes the momentum of the last two games and the new start under Grayson could be key to Leeds pushing for promotion in the second half of the season.

Next up for Leeds is a trip to Hereford on Saturday followed by five more games before the end of January in what could be a crucial month both on and off the pitch with the transfer window opening on Thursday.
