Ken Bates has expressed his disappointment in striker Jermaine Beckford turning down the offer of a new contract.
Leeds offered the leading goalscorer for the last two seasons a new three year contract which Beckford turned down.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio Bates said ‘Money isn’t everything in life and Jermaine may want to consider how happy he would be away from Yorkshire, but that’s his decision.’
With Beckford only having twelve months left on his current contract they decided to put on the transfer list now rather than the chance of losing him for nothing at the end of next season.
A number of clubs have already been linked with the striker and Bates says the club will not sell him unless the right offer for the club comes along.
