Leeds United midfielder Rodolph Austin saw his hopes of appearing in the 2014 World Cup finals with Jamaica dealt another blow after defeat in Honduras.

Jamaica conceded a goal in each half, losing 2-0 to condemn them to their third defeat in a week.

Austin played the full 90 minutes for Jamaica as they conceded early and late in the game. Oscar Boniek gave Honduras the lead after just ten minutes and they clinched a crucial win with minutes remaining when a poor back pass allowed Roger Rojas to score. Jamaica had to play the last fifteen minutes with ten men when Reading defender Adrian Mariappa was sent off for a reckless challenge.

Derby County striker Theo Robinson came closest to scoring for Jamaica when his effort clipped the post but Jamaica rarely threatened.

Jamaica are now four points off a play-off place with just four games remaining and having played a game more than their nearest rivals.

Their next game is on 6th September when they travel to fifth placed Panama.
