Leeds United midfielder Rodolph Austin has undergone scans on the ankle injury he suffered against Barnsley earlier this month.
Austin was left out of the squad against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night and Warnock says the influential midfielder had been for scans and advised not to play in the game. “He has had a scan today and he was advised not to play tonight,” said Warnock on Yorkshire Radio following the 1-1 draw with Charlton.
Warnock was also critical of the Jamaican Football Federation after Austin played 90 minutes in the second game of their World Cup qualifiers following the injury. “I am disappointed with Jamaica with how they went about it. He got his injury against Barnsley.
“He didn`t play the first game but with them losing, it was important he played the second game.
“They are 3-1 up with fifteen minutes remaining, they could have pulled him off then, especially when you have a game in four day`s time and then to make him come back on an economy flight is a disgrace,” continued Warnock.
Austin returned in time for the game with Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night but he was substituted at half time after an uncharacteristic first half performance.
The midfielder missed his first game of the season against Charlton on Tuesday evening, leaving Jason Pearce as the only ever present in the side this season.
