Leeds United fans living locally to Elland Road can looking forward to a lot less travelling next season.
Last season, fans travelling from Elland Road and back to all 23 championship away games, travelled 6191 miles.
In the 2012/13 season, they can look forward to travelling almost 800 miles less, clocking up 5422 miles travelling to all 23 away games.
Despite having to travel over 6,000 miles last season away from home, Leeds fans still had the best average away support in the championship with 3,093 on average attending Leeds away games.
The new season will see a host of local games with five Yorkshire derbies against Huddersfield Town, Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City and Middlesbrough.
Huddersfield will be the shortest trip of the season for those leaving from Elland Road, with a round trip of 31 miles.
There are four roses battles against Blackpool, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Burnley.
Leeds have fifteen trips within 120 miles of Elland Road, with midlands clashes against Nottingham Forest, Derby County, Birmingham City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City as well as a trip to Peterborough.
The longest trip for Leeds fans will once again be the trip to the South coast to face Brighton and Hove Albion, a round total of 514 miles
Whilst it is great for those travelling from Leeds to seen the distance shortened, there is still going to be coaches from the length and breadth of the UK following Leeds away from home.
The branch I travel with, the Thames Valley Whites will travel 7219 miles in attending the 23 away games. For those attending all 46 games next season, and there will be quite a few within our branch, then they can look forward to 16,143 miles on the roads.
*The mileage has been taken from a well-known Automobile Association website with nothing to do with having a drink problem. It is worked out from ground to ground, including a round trip.
