Neil Redfearn finished his tenure as caretaker manager of Leeds United with a typical Leeds performance as a goal deep into stoppage time claim all three points against Doncaster Rovers.

It looked like Leeds were going to lose for the second time in a week against a side propping up the championship table as they trailed 2-0 with just 35 minutes remaining.

In an enthralling finish, Leeds claimed all three points thanks to a goal by Luciano Becchio in the 12th minute of stoppage time.

Doncaster looked to be cruising to victory following two goals from Mamadou Bagayoko and the visitors had looked the better side throughout the first half.

Habib Bamogo almost gave the visitors the lead inside fifteen minutes when his back heeled effort came back of a post.

It was Bamogo`s last contribution to the game as he was substituted soon afterwards with what looked like a hamstring injury.

His replacement, Bagayoko soon put Doncaster ahead. The Leeds defence were all at sea, as James Hayter was put in behind the Leeds defence. Andy Lonergan came out to block Hayter`s shot but the ball fell to Bagayoko who tapped into an empty net.

The visitors doubled their lead early in the second half when Bagayoko had the easy task of heading in from two yards with the Leeds defence once again at sixes and sevens.

Leeds responded quickly with Andros Townsend shooting low past David Button to score his first goal for the club.

The game was wide open, Bagayoko was denied his hat trick by a good save from Lonergan and Luciano Becchio saw his close range effort saved by Button.

Leeds drew level with just ten minutes remaining when Adam Clayton steered his shot past Button following a good ball in from Robert Snodgrass.

There was a lengthy delay on full time when Leeds substitute and debutant Robbie Rogers and Doncaster defender Tommy Spurr clashed heads and both left the pitch on stretchers.

Leeds scored the winner with almost the last kick of the game when Becchio saw his first effort come back off the heels of Mikael Forssell and Becchio made no mistake with his second effort with a superb finish from the edge of the area.

The win lifts Leeds one place into tenth and they are just three points outside the play-off places although the teams directly above them all have games in hand.
