Looks like Leeds cannot win with referees right now

This week we may well see other flashpoints from the Leeds v Brentford game looked into after a tempestuous affair at Elland Road.

Certainly, there was a lot that referee Jeremy Simpson missed at the weekend though he did apparently see something to give them a penalty.

I’ll be honest, I like everyone else didn’t think it was one but it’s clear that the refs do with Dermot Gallagher coming out and backing the call.

Phil Hay has made that apparent on his Twitter account:

Simpson had a shocker and gave a penalty to the Bees after Ollie Watkins fell into Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Neal Maupay dispatched it, too, and it nearly decided the game but for Pontus Jansson’s late header.

The sense of injustice was palpable but, clearly, we can’t win with any officials right now – retired or not.

Let’s just hope, though, that we’re getting our bad luck out of the way now.
