Following the speculation linking Leeds United with a move for Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford, the deal was signed last night and the Elland Road faithful were quick to welcome our new striker to the club with hopes that he’d find his form from a couple of years ago and help fire us up the table.

The 24-year-old forward comes in for an undisclosed fee but the media seem to agree the total deal on his new four-year contract could be worth £10million to the Riverside Stadium outfit.

He becomes our fifth capture of the summer following on from goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, Lewis Baker, Barry Douglas and Jack Harrison.

We’ve handed him the No 9 shirt for the coming 2018/19 Championship season and the former England youth international comes in having scored 13 goals in 44 appearances for Boro as they finished in the Play-Off spots last season. Fans will certainly remember his hattrick against us last March.

There are those who doubt the deal given how he’s struggled to find the form he showed when making his EFL breakthrough – but plenty of certainly happy at the deal.
