Leeds United suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of West Brom on Saturday and slipped down the Championship standings as a result.
The Peacocks sit third heading into November’s international break, three points behind new leaders Norwich City and just four ahead of tenth-placed QPR – which sets up an intriguing fight for promotion this season.
Defeat against West Brom was a hammer blow to a Leeds side who have largely impressed under Marcelo Bielsa’s guidance this season and a statistical analysis of the performance raised eyebrows, as it was shown Leeds had 72% of possession.
Despite dominating the tempo of the game, the Peacocks failed to make it count and registered just three shots on target during the game – which has left many fans on social media concerned by their side’s productivity in the final third.
After having the stats pointed out on social media, many responded and we have gathered some of the best reactions below.
Possession means nowt . They had apparantly little . But used it effectively. More importantly got 3 pts

The only stat that ever matters in football is the Goals nothing more nothing less.

one thing we don’t have a lot of in our team is pace, and if a team does play counter attacking football against us we can easily get caught out, and that showed big time tonight with their pace of their forward line

It’s only a lesson if we learn from it. #lufc

It’s ok have 72% possession but I bet 80% of that is in our own half. Not going to score if in our own half, our final ball isn’t good enough and we are too slow to move the ball on. The urgency from the start of the season has gone.

Starting to look more and more like Stam’s Reading.

Spot on, not enough creativity in the side, we need Samu back in for Adam
