Leeds United’s signing of Gamba Osaka midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi in the January 2018 window may have been a masterstroke had the Japanese player managed to stay fit and impress.
The 22-year-old has never featured in the Leeds senior squad following his arrival and he was sent out first to Cultural Leonesa, and spent this season with Greuther Furth with manager Marcelo Bielsa deciding he wasn’t yet ready to compete.
Having picked up a cruciate ligament injury over the season, he has been restricted to only six appearances but two of those did come this month as he completed his rehabilitation and regained his fitness, but a report from German outlet Kicker suggests that he will be returning to Elland Road this summer, as his loan club now feel that the buy clause inserted into the deal is too expensive given what they’ve seen from him so far.
They quote sports director Rachid Azzouzi as saying.
“We have to see what can be changed or not.”
Maybe not a surprise given they didn’t get a full season out of him, but you’d assume he’ll still move on though.
