When Leeds United brought in young Brighton and Hove Albion centre-half Ben White, most fans were wondering what to expect from the lad.
The highly rated 21-year-old had a decent spell at Peterborough United in the second half of the 2018/19 campaign, and clearly Brighton feel he’s ready to step up to the second tier and manager Marcelo Bielsa must like something about him – and he also got a very solid 2017/18 campaign under his belt at Newport County so he comes in with just over 70 senior appearances to his name and the experience that brings.
Our recent friendly with Guiseley Town (2-1 victory) saw White make his non-competitive debut for us and plenty of fans were pleased with what they saw from him, given he’s still in new surroundings and adjusting to exactly what our Argentine gaffer wants from him.
It certainly bodes well for the challenges ahead as we all know what our aim is for 2019/20.
Shackleton gave 100% for the full 90 tonight, Klich also present to play the ball and move thr game forward. Costa grew into the game and showed quick feet, White also impressive and bursts forward. Good conditioning game #LeedsGuiseley #LUFC

Very well ???? pushes forward up the pitch more than Jansson if that's possible ???? some fantastic touches and super calm on the ball #lufc

Just noticed, nobody seems to have picked up or don't see need to correct me (so will myself), I have signed us a new player called "Ben Clarke" ! Perhaps it is because Ben White dribbled like Jack Clarke when he went forward ! #lufc

Personally I was impressed. Good at reading the game, pace, good interceptions and good at taking the ball out from the back. Solid debut in tough playing conditions ????????

Ben White ⚽️????????????????. Top class. Who said he was crap? #lufc Don’t judge a player until you’ve seen him play.

I thought White looked very good, his whole passing range and positional play instilled lots of confidence. Any one else agree? #bielsa #lufc

Shackelton and White ????

Shackleton was like Prime Dani Alves and Ben White was stepping out like Baresi in his pomp #lufc

Nice work @LUFC. Nowhere near the polished performance of last night but showed some steel. Ben White looks the real deal already. Sign him up on a permanent contract.

Like what I saw of Ben White. Deffo looks a good ball playing CB, confident passer, & looks decent attacking wise. Gonna be a mad one when we have an overlapping CB in attack
Bogusz looks good, but Shackleton that guy is a top player in the making. Kenneh tho. So much potential.

Costa gonna be immense. Bogusz looks a baller too. Still need that extra CB. Can’t be having kalvin dropping in there again. Thinking white is Janssons replacement though #lufc
