“Like Another New Signing” – Former Leeds Man Backs The Club To Get 29 y/o Signed To A New Deal

|

With Leeds United finally capturing key midfielder Kalvin Phillips to a new contract this week, and further deals for Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper going through, thoughts now naturally turn to the likes of Mats Klich who revealed himself that talks on a new deal were also underway.

The 29-year-old Poland international is another key figure for manager Marcelo Bielsa in his preferred system and he’s already featured in seven games for us this year, chipping in with an assist and the expectation is his tally will grow far higher as the season progresses.

Former player Jermaine Beckford has been speaking about his importance to the side this week, and he thinks getting Klich to commit his longer term future at Elland Road makes sense for a variety of reasons given he’s had a second lease of life under our Argentine gaffer.

Speaking to Football League World, the former striker explained.

“He’s another player that has been vitally important to the Leeds United team. He always seems to put himself in the right place at the right times. He makes very few mistakes and he’s also a very exciting player. I think getting him to sign a new deal will only help to boost the confidence around the place that little bit more. That’s like another new signing.”

I think most fans would be more than on board with and additional two or three year deal given he’s soon to be out of contract, as we all know the part he plays for us and with ten goals to his name last year along with nine assists, a repeat of that this season would be very welcome.
