As the international break winds down, it’s time to focus on club football once again.

Oh who am I kidding, one more post won’t hurt surely?

So England defeated Kosovo 5-3 last night in what was a rather thrilling game at St Mary’s. Whilst the victory leaves England top of their qualifying group for next summer’s European Championships, it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for Gareth Southgate’s men and it left a lot of people questioning their defensive capabilities.

Thankfully Leeds United fans were on hand to give Southgate the perfect solution to his problems with two of their players Ben White (although he is technically a Brighton player) and newly tied down Kalvin Phillips.

England boss Gareth Southgate has said in the past that he isn’t ruling out the option of picking players from the Championship to play for England, so it’s certainly not out of the realms of possibility for the likes of White and Phillips to get called up in the near future.

Although playing in the Premier League certainly would make his selection process a lot easier. Just another reason to add to the list of why we need to get promoted this season.
