Leeds, Where’s My Ticket Money?

Leeds United supporters have been left wondering just where their money has gone, as nobody seems to be able to decide just who has hold of the cash sent in for season tickets.

The club, despite administration proceedings has continued to operate “as normal” as it can and has had what it claims are “record” sales to the point that Ken Bates told Yorkshire Radio: ‘It’s just over three weeks since we started posting the tickets out and the response has been unbelievable.

As of today we have processed 8,600. Memberships are pouring in as well, and it’s just phenomenal.”

However, following the news that HM Revenue & Customs were set to contest the CVA in the High Court, the club were forced to issue a statement attempting to reassure fans that their money was safe. The statement, issued on the official website read, in part:
“The club can confirm that Season Ticket receipts are being kept in a separate bank account and Leeds United 2007 Ltd, who have sold the tickets for the forthcoming season, will ensure that the money is kept safe so it can be returned to supporters if we cannot start the season.”

As the saga continues, it appears that neither the club, nor administrators KPMG are willing to accept responsibility for the Season Ticket money, should the worst case scenario happened. Ken Bates moved quickly, when asked during a radio interview to pass the buck to KPMG, who in turn when quizzed claimed it was not their responsibility and that it did not know where the money was.

Vital Leeds would like to call on the club to clarify the situation, and can easily be contacted by e-mailing leeds@vitalfootball.co.uk.
