GiveMeSport have reported that Leeds United remain ‘very much serious’ about signing the Belgian attacker Charles de Ketelaere from Club Brugge in a deal likely to be worth over £25 million.

A source has told Football Insider that the club are confident that they have ‘leapfrogged’ AC Milan in the race for the Belgian after submitting a £25 million bid, plus add-ons, to bring him to Elland Road this summer.

Leeds want to hand de Ketelaere a ‘lucrative’ five-year deal in an attempt to convince him to join the club rather than to keep his sights on the Italian champions.

With 18 goals and 10 assists last season, he would be a prolific addition to a Leeds side largely dependent on Raphinha’s goal contributions in 2021/22.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport:

“De Ketelaere is the other one to watch and Leeds are very much serious about bringing on board the Club Brugge forward.

“They’re in competition with Leicester, who are very much circling around the player too.

“I think that it is fair to say Adams’ arrival will turn Leeds’ interest in de Ketelaere into being highly, highly serious as well.”

This remains a highly competitive deal but it would be a huge statement of intent from the club, bringing in one of Europe’s hottest attacking talents from under the noses of European giants.
