The two managers give their reactions as Leeds United went up a gear late on to roll over Southend 4-1 in their League One clash.

Leeds United boss Dennis Wise took time to praise the Leeds faithful as well as the players as over 24,000 fans watched his side make things look comfortable against a fellow relegated side.

Talking to the official website, leedsunited.com, Wisey said: ‘I thought we were fantastic in the second half.’

‘We conceded a goal where we were a bit unfortunate because Matty (Heath) slipped, but the lads responded well and that was down to the fans.

‘The fans reacted straight away and that lifted the lads.”

Talking on the reduction of the minus points deficit, Wisey was pleased that the team are impressing however isn`t getting carried away just yet: ‘We’re performing well at the moment and we’re looking very strong.’

‘There’s a long, long way to go, though and we have to keep our feet on the ground.’

Southend’s Steve Tilson was less than impressed with the way that his Southend side fell apart following Tore-Andre Flo`s introduction into the match: ‘I’m very disappointed because to anyone watching it was never a 4-1 game,’ Tilson said when speaking to Blues World.

‘We did well to get back to 1-1, but we then give the ball away in such a poor area and they break forward and score, which was the turning point.”

Despite attempts to get back into the game at 2-1, Leeds exploited the extra space and 2 late goals provided a scoreline that perhaps flattered the home side.

“We showed lots of spirit and I felt we had done enough to get something out the game, but it was not to be.”
