Leeds United sank further into relgation trouble as an in-form Derby sucured all three points at Elland Road.
Giles Barnes opener was the only goal of the game which moved Derby into second.
Barnes was first to meet Jon Stead’s cross and powered in an unstoppable header past Leeds goalkeeper Graham Stack and into the corner of the net.
Leeds’ Hayden Foxe tested Stephen Bywater from 20 yards with a dipping drive and Robbie Blake also went close.
For Dennis Wise it seems the January window can’t come quick enough as he looks to add a couple of faces to lift us out of our current situation.
‘I’m sure in January we’ll add a couple more. There are certain people we’ve earmarked,’ he said. ‘We have to get a certain amount of points by a certain time but time’s far from up. Leeds’s position will change.’
