Leeds United boss Gary McAllister spoke of his disappointment as his side lost more ground on the promotion hunters following a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cheltenham Town.

Goals from David Bird and Alex Russell were enough to seal all 3 points for the League One strugglers, Anthony Elding picked up his first goal in a Leeds shirt however it turned out to be mere consolation on an awful night for our Championship promotion bid.

McAllister spoke to Leedsunited.com:

“It was very frustrating. I felt we lacked a touch, guile, and assurance in the final third of the field.

“We were sloppy in that area and that was our downfall. We have to take more pride and care in the final third.”

“Their first goal was poor from our point of view,” added the boss. “Frazer Richardson should have cleared his lines – he’s a senior player and he knows that – and it was a bad mistake.”

“Their second goal was a wonder-goal. As we were pressing and chasing we were taking chances at the back to try and get a goal back. It was a night of frustration.”

Perhaps if you stopped playing poor Frazer out of position Macca, you may find that he is able to put in more consistent performances.
