Leeds urged to only accept the right offer for star winger

|

Leeds United have been warned that they should only accept a substantial offer for their star winger Raphinha.

Former Leeds United midfielder David Prutton has urged Leeds to only accept what the whites winger is worth, as per Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks and the whites have been warned to not let him leave unless his valuation is met.  The Spanish giants were hoping to snap up Raphinha in a cut price deal had the Yorkshire club been relegated from the Premier League.  When they survived on the final day, Barcelona knew it would take a lot more to lure the winger away from Elland Road.

“He’s Leeds United’s asset and they’ve got to try and hold out for the most,” Prutton told the YEP.

With Leeds buying players and exploring other avenues to bring more through the door, it seems they do not need to sell key players to fund transfers.  Having made three signings already, it certainly looks like they are trying to build a squad rather than let players leave.

Having said that, if players are to leave, it is imperative that they maximise the money generated for them.  Leeds fans will want to keep hold of their prize assets and see the team built around them.

Raphinia is very much a key player and that can be seen in his stats for goals, chances created and assists.  In the two Premier League seasons he has played, he has topped the charts in most categories for the whites.  He has also been called up numerous times for the Brazil squad on the back of his impressive displays on the wing.

Leeds run the risk of losing the Brazilian for a lot less next season, or even in January if they struggle to tie him down to a new deal.  It looks as though his preferred destination is the Camp Nou, but considering their financial plight, could he be going elsewhere, if at all?
