Leeds United youngster Tomi Ameobi is set to gain valuable first team experience as he joins Championship side Scunthorpe on loan.

Ameobi has always been in and around the first team squad this season, making his debut as Leeds exited the Carling Cup at the hands of Premier League side Portsmouth in August, however has not been able to capitalise on the striker situation, with boss Dennis Wise preferring to bring in loan signings as cover for the front two.

It now appears that Ameobi, who scored against Scunthorpe reserves midweek will be given a chance to do a job in the Championship, above the level of his more experienced team-mates. The Irons are no stranger to Leeds United players, with current top goal scorer Jermaine Beckford scoring 8 goals in 18 appearances whilst on loan at Glanford Park, helping the club steam-roller their way through League One.

The loan deal sees Ameobi through until the 6th of January.
