Bielsa makes two changes, 29 y/o and forward dropped: Predicted Leeds XI vs Fulham

Leeds United's Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts celebrate after the Hull City match

Leeds United will be looking to get their title challenge back on track this afternoon but standing in their way is the tough test of Fulham.

Last night, league leaders West Brom were defeated by Brentford, who closed the gap to just five points, though it does mean the Whites can go top with at least a draw at Elland Road today.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten 2-0 at Cardiff City on their return to Championship action on Sunday and their downfall was mainly down to two defensive mistakes.

So what sort of team will the Argentine name today? Here’s what we are predicting…

There could be two changes to the side that lost in the Welsh capital last weekend as Bielsa will be able to call upon a couple of injury-free players.

Illan Meslier keeps his place between the sticks with Kiko Casilla still serving a suspension whilst the four-man backline in front of him will have one alteration.

The usual two centre-backs Ben White and Liam Cooper remain, as does Luke Ayling at right-back, but instead Stuart Dallas is dropped for Gjanni Alioski – the 29-year-old did no wrong against the Bluebirds, but it makes sense to have a more natural left-sided player.

As a result, the Northern Irishman takes a place on the bench with the midfield going largely unchanged. It means Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips both continue to occupy spots in Bielsa’s engine room.

And the Argentine boss is able to welcome back Pablo Hernandez from injury, a much-needed return as the Whites lacked that creative spark against Cardiff.

Tyler Roberts appeared to be suffering from cramp but has been declared fit to feature, although he’ll be the one making way for the Spanish wizard.

Having provided six goals and six assists in just 25 starts, having the 35-year-old available is a major boost.

The rest of the lineup remains much the same with Jack Harrison and Helder Costa on the wings with Patrick Bamford leading the line.
