“Ruled out” – Leeds handed huge blow as fresh update emerges ahead of Blackburn test

|

Leeds United were dealt a devastating blow on Tuesday evening as ever-present utility man Stuart Dallas hobbled off the pitch with seconds left on the clock.

The 29-year-old, who is dubbed the Cookstown Cafu, was replaced by Jamie Shackleton in injury time at Elland Road and is set to miss this weekend’s tie with Blackburn Rovers.

LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross revealed the news on Twitter after the match, he said:

The Northern Irishman netted the Whites’ equalising goal just after the hour mark, meeting Gjanni Alioski’s cross before slotting home past the visiting goalkeeper.

Who should replace Stuart Dallas?

Barry Douglas

Gjanni Alioski

He’s been an integral and versatile part of Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI all campaign, starting in all 40 of United’s Championship outings. Per WhoScored, he’s averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.7 shots, 1.1 clearances and 0.9 key passes per appearance, and has featured at left-back, right-back and central midfield.

This news will come as a huge disappointment to Bielsa, especially as he’ll have to shuffle his pack for the first time in three matches. Alioski is primed to start whilst Barry Douglas could be in with a shout.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Argentine shapes his midfield as a result.
