“Do not underestimate” – Journalist delivers fresh update over Leeds’ potential QSI takeover

|

Leeds United are theoretically just six games from making history – right? Well, nothing is easy in the Championship but if you’re holding a six-point cushion to the playoff zone, then you know it’s firmly in your hands.

It’s been 16 years since the Yorkshire giants were in the top-flight of English football and there have been plenty of reports suggesting that they could well be taken over by Paris Saint-Germain’s Qatari backers.

Would you welcome investment from QSI?

100%!

Nope!

Over a year ago, the Financial Times first linked the club with QSI and it’s rumbled on ever since.

Now, LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross has delivered a fresh update into the situation and has even thrown in a little curveball, too.

In response to one supporter in a recent Q&A, he said:

“There’s been nothing on QSI since the start of lockdown now. Radrizzani has spoken about his friendship with Nasser Al-Khelaifi in the past, but never tried to fan the flames too hard. His door has always remained open to investment, but where from is up in the air. Do not underestimate his relationship with the 49ers on future share deals.”

The Whites journo claims that there have been no talks with the wealthy Middle Eastern backers since lockdown struck and it very much remains to be seen if beIN chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi genuinely does hold interest in the Championship front-runners.

What’s most interesting is that Cross hints that something may be brewing in the future in regards to the San Francisco 49ers investment.

Leeds United v Bristol City - Caleb Ekuban - Feb 2018

Who did Leeds United sell Caleb Ekuban to in July 2019?

Back in May 2018, United confirmed a partnership with the NFL team with chairman Andrea Radrizzani selling a 10% share in the club to them.

That’s clearly something that could develop in the future, according to the reputable journalist.
