The Athletic’s Phil Hay has provided a fresh update into one of Leeds United’s reported summer transfer targets.
Following the Whites’ 3-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday, one supporter asked about the club’s centre-back situation to the reliable journalist in a Q&A.
Do you want to see Juan Foyth at Elland Road next season?
The west Yorkshire outfit had been linked with a temporary move for Spurs defender Juan Foyth. Argentine journalist Nicolas Bozza claimed that the 22-year-old would join on loan ahead of next season.
However, Hay has poured cold water on this, suggesting that the club aren’t “massively keen” on the Spurs man and are looking at others instead.
“I’m told that Leeds aren’t massively keen on Foyth. They’ve watched him but are looking at others.”
Foyth has struggled to make his mark under Jose Mourinho this term, since the Portuguese’s appointment in November, he has managed to feature just three times in all competitions.
Marcelo Bielsa will almost certainly be in the market for a new centre-back this summer with Ben White likely to return to parent club Brighton and Gaetano Berardi set to leave following the expiry of his contract.
It means Liam Cooper will be the only senior option at the club going into a potential Premier League campaign.
Foyth may not be top of their list, but at least the club are assessing their options.
