Leeds United appear to be eyeing up a new striker this summer but they’ll face stiff competition in the race to land him.

According to Voetbal International, the Championship promotion-chasers are one of TEN teams thought to be chasing NEC forward Ole Romeny. The likes of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Norwich City, Brentford, Juventus and Real Socided are all mentioned in the report.

The Whites have previously done business with the Eerste Divisie side when signing rarely-seen winger Jay-Rot Grot in 2017.

Romeny has been in decent form in the Dutch second-tier having bagged nine goals in 30 appearances, via Transfermarkt.

Do Leeds need to sign another striker this summer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The 6 foot 2 talisman became an unwanted record-breaker back in January 2018 when he became the youngest ever player to be sent off on debut, receiving his marching orders shortly after coming on as a substitute against Almere City.

If the west Yorkshiremen do manage to win the tussle for the emerging Dutchman, then it could spell a world of bad things for Ryan Edmondson, who has struggled to break into the first-team under Marcelo Bielsa.

Persistent injury problems to January loanee Jean-Kevin Augustin has put immense pressure on Patrick Bamford as the only fit striker amongst the senior fold whilst the 19-year-old hasn’t played for Leeds since 2018 and has only featured twice in his career so far.

The arrival of Romeny would undoubtedly cause a devasting blow to Edmondson’s chances of ever breaking into the first-team at Thorp Arch.

But on the other hand, beating the 2019 Premier League champions to a signing could be considered a serious statement.

It’s certainly an interesting one for Victor Orta to weigh up.
