Plenty of Leeds United fans have flocked to recent tweets from The Athletic’s Phil Hay after he revealed the state of play ahead of Thursday’s crucial match against Barnsley at Elland Road.

Following Marcelo Bielsa’s press conference, the ever-reliable reporter relayed news that talisman Kalvin Phillips is set to miss the match and could even miss the remainder of the season.

He also claimed that Kiko Casilla has been training at Thorp Arch all throughout his eight-match suspension but it isn’t yet known if the Spaniard will be reintroduced straight back into the starting lineup.

Who should replace Kalvin Phillips in midfield?

Phillips’ injury means that loan star and arguably the player of the season so far, Ben White, moves into midfield with Gaetano Berardi potentially starting at centre-back.

These messages have caused much of the Whites faithful to fret in response on Twitter.

“God help us” was the response from just one fan whilst another simply said “oh no” which pretty much sums up the worry that has struck supporters this week.

Here’s the rest of the reaction…
