Leeds United Net New Sponsor

WHO? Leeds United have announced a 3-year shirt sponsorship deal with the online flight booking service netflights.com.

The company, who I must admit until today I hadn`t even heard of, has stepped in after negotiations regarding another, perhaps bigger name sponsor pulled out of a deal, leaving Leeds playing their pre-season friendlies sponsorless.

The debut of the newly sponsored playing shirts will be at Leeds` FCV Dender friendly on the 2nd August.

A bizarre one, and upon a little more research, I`ll explain just who they are and why (if?) this could be beneficial for the club, as yet again sponsorship is reliant on someone “stepping in” following a lack of decent, bigger branded names. However, the head of Commercial Operations at Leeds United told the official site Leedsunited.com:

“We are delighted to welcome netflights.com as our new shirt sponsor – they have been a real white knight for us. We had signed a deal earlier in the year but contractual difficulties left us a without a sponsor just weeks before the season starts.
“Netflights.com is a company who are achieving great success and like Leeds has a rich history, something which we are both extremely proud of. We are really excited to be working together with a huge range of opportunities for two such popular crowd-pleasing brands. Everybody loves holidays and sport so with the combination of both we know our fans will be happy.”
